The Invicta Dynamos rear guard received a boost following the news that 30 year old blue liner Tyrone Miller has returned to the club for his first full season.Tyrone Miller2

Tyrone Miller first rose to prominence in 1998/99 for the Guildford Flames in the then British National League (BNL) before making the switch to Romford to join the Raiders in the EPL come 2000/01.

His debut season with the Essex outfit saw him scoop league and playoffs winners’ medals and was just the start of a successful decade in the league above during which time he managed 295 appearances, netted 18 goals from deep and played a role in 77 more for 95 points.

He spent the vast majority of his EPL career in the blue and gold of Romford but also enjoyed half season stints with the Chelmsford Chieftains in 2002/03, with the Bracknell Bees in 2003/04, the Slough Jets in 2006/07 and the Basingstoke Bison in 2009/10.

By 2010/11 Tyrone Miller’s Romford Raiders opted to drop into the NIHL South’s top tier and the experienced defencemen moved with them – making 65 league appearances for the Essex outfit over the next two campaigns.

His dominant displays saw him rated amongst the best in the division and, come the start of 2012/13, the Streatham Redskins did enough to lure him from his typical Romford home for the new season.

He would make 10 league appearances for the Brixton based side before, in late December, Invicta Dynamos Head Coach Kevin Parrish jumped at the chance to bring him to the Silver Blades Gillingham. Now, after 23 outings across all competitions in Kent over the back end of the last campaign, Miller returns to the club looking to add to his 1 goal and 15 assists whilst patrolling the blue line in 2013/14.

Speaking on the return of Tyrone Miller, Head Coach Kevin Parrish described the skater as one of the league’s best ‘stay at home’ defencemen and a real asset to his new look squad.

Parrish said, “Tyrone has years of experience behind him but at 30 still has years of hockey left in him. He has played at a higher level for over a decade and proven himself to be one of the best in our division having moved into the NIHL South back in 2010/11.”

“Towards the end of last campaign he had settled in well and was proving a valuable asset and I have no doubt he will continue to be a vital member of the side throughout 2013/14”.

The Dynamos Head Coach then detailed what he thought the skater brought to the team when he added, “Tyrone is known for his physical presence and has the ability to deliver a momentum turning hit but he also brings a level of composure to the back line and a great eye for a breakout pass that saw him claim 15 assists in just 23 games for us last term.”

“We’ll be looking to him for a commanding presence in our own zone and there’s no doubt he has all the credentials to deliver when the puck drops in September”.

Defenceman Tyrone Miller, who will continue to wear number 10 at the Silver Blades Gillingham, is the club’s fourteenth summer signing with two more players to be revealed over the coming week.
