Gent’s 30-year-old Belgian international midfielder, Christophe Lepoint, has agreed a deal to join Charlton.

Valued at over £1 million, Lepoint will join the Addicks on a permanent deal.

He made a scoring debut for Belgium in May 2010 when he hit the equaliser in a 2-1 friendly win over Bulgaria in Brussels.

Lepoint is a box-to-box midfielder and will bring competition for places in the engine room. Guy Luzon likes to rotate his squad, so it is possible Yoni Buyens and Johnnie Jackson will no longer be automatic starters.

Lepoint was seriously injured on 31 January 2011, when he was involved in a car accident. He was asleep in the passenger seat of a vehicle driven by team mate, Sebastien Bruzzese. Lepoint has struggled to get back to his best form since the accident.

A couple of the club’s youngsters are allegedly attracting attention from League Two teams. Kadell Daniel is thought to be on Mansfield’s radar, while Jack Munns is thought to be wanted by Cheltenham.

Both clubs are at the wrong end of the League Two table.
