Not for the first time this season, Ebbsfleet United recovered from a deficit leaving Daryl McMahon happy.

Manager Daryl McMahon was not too worried saying “Two Saturday’s ago we were one nil down against Weston until the 80th minute and we won 2-1 . We’ve done it before this season. I wasn’t too concerned. Because they scored so early we had loads of time to win it.

Dan Walker missed a great chance to make it two but McMahon was still confident that it would not have been a problem for his team. H added “It’s all ifs and buts. We’ve scored fifteen (in three games) so it depends on how you look at it.”

Although the Fleet were behind until the 29th minute, McMahon was not surprised that his team scored three times in the last fifteen first half minutes. He continued “Before that Darren had two or three attempts. On another day he could have scored them.

“As everyone knows, goals change games. We showed good composure and good quality as well in getting the ball past them and I’m pleased with that.”

He suggested that despite the league placings, it was never going to be easy saying “They’ve got some good players. They probably shouldn’t be where they are in the league putting names on paper.

Having already been 3-1 up. McMahon said it helped when Danny Waldren was dismissed, without making a huge bearing on the result. “It did, but I I think we did (exploit their defence) anyway to be honest. In the first half we were getting in between them. It was just about scoring the chances we created. Good again, good at home, good scoreline and we get ready for next week.”

Although the result meant that they equalled promotion rivals Maidenhead United’s result at Bath City, just winning was the crucial thing to McMahon who said “The positive is in the performance and getting three points.”

Next week, Ebbsfleet have the long jaunt to Truro in Cornwall. McMahon joked “Someone said it’s somewhere that you should be going to for your holidays, it takes so long to get there. We’ll go down there. It’s a difficult place to go to. We know that.  It’s not the easiest pitch to play on but we’ll look forward to it.

“We’ve got to focus on the next one and we’ll play whoever we’ve got to play.”
