Steve McKimm and his Cray Valley PM side head for Horsham on Saturday as third hosts fourth in the Isthmian Premier with the Millers boss keen to get back to winning ways.

For Valley, who have a game in hand on their hosts, will be looking to end a run of three without a win, but when we asked McKimm about that this week, the Valley boss told us, “We are in fourth position in the Isthmian Premier League. So, whatever has happened before is irrelevant! We have not been on a bad run – it’s not a great run – but we are still fourth in the Isthmian Premier League!”
“A lot of other teams below us would love to be in our position – I don’t look back over games that we could have won or should have won, as there are games that we could have lost and should have lost, but we haven’t.”
“As I talk to you now, we have 57 points after 30 games – three points off two points a game – and “all” we have to do is pick up the next few wins, and the sooner the better, to cement the place in the Play Offs which is what we are aiming for first and foremost.”
McKimm’s side go into the weekend seven points behind leaders Dartford and three behind their weekend hosts, but McKimm is focused on his own side’s fixtures.
“Third against fourth this weekend and then we’ve got to play Hastings who are at the other end of the table, but is also a big game for us.” the Valley boss said.
“Every game now for us until the end of the season is a big game for us if we want to stay in and around the Play Offs which for me would be another fantastic season for our Football Club.”
“I’m always looking to do better; the players are always looking to do better and the Club is looking to do better. If we can achieve the Play Offs this third season, what a remarkable season it will be for everyone.”
“Against all odds and against everybody’s judgement of where we would finish, it would be brilliant! And we still have a lot of football to play, but we have a lot of spirit and desire to stay in and around the top five.”
“We may have home games coming up against Hastings and Hendon, but we’re not going to kid ourselves as we have already lost to Hendon and drew at Hastings!”
“Make no mistake, these games are not easy as it is a tough League and we are finding that out – we’re not running away smashing teams like we were last year.”
“It’s a real competitive League no matter who you play, at the top or the bottom, but it is an enjoyable League to play in because everyone can beat everyone; everyone has a lot of quality in their squad and it’s a matter of can you take advantage of the chances that come along.”
