Strood based MBM Motorsport are aiming to build on their solid start as the MSA Formula Championship heads to Donington Park this weekend as the second round takes place.
Jamie Caroline’s podium was the highlight for the Kent-based team during the exciting opening rounds of the BTCC support series at Brands Hatch earlier this month, and they are looking to continue that form at Donington Park.
But with Harry Hayek also getting among the points by the final race, all focus is on better qualifying times and consistency this time out.
After some impressive testing times at the track during pre-season, MBM Motorsport team manager James Mundy is looking forward to pushing on.
He said: “We were quite quick at Donington during pre-season. It’s a fast flowing track that the drivers really like.
“We had a decent start at Brands Hatch, but are looking for better qualifying times, which are the key to the whole weekend. Then we are aiming for consistent Top 4 finishes. We believe we can be right up there, so are looking forward to it.”
Warlingham driver Jamie, 17, who took the Ginetta Junior crown last year, finished second in the second round of his single seater debut at Brands Hatch – proving he will be one to watch as the season progresses.
Australian Harry, 18, finished fourth in the Australian F4 championship last season, but found the going here a little more difficult to start with. However, he showed consistent improvement across the weekend to get among the points by the final race.
Both drivers had a difficult time of it during testing at Thruxton last week, unable to get a run on new tyres.
But the team was fourth quickest by the end of play – and really strong in the wet.
MBM Motorsport, from Strood, also known as Jamun Racing, now head to Donington Park for the next round of the Championship which takes place on 16-17 April.
