Sittingbourne continue their pursuit of Ramsgate at the top of the Isthmian Southeast as they travel to one of just two sides to beat the Rams all league season – East Grinstead Town with manager Ryan Maxwell keen to keep the heat on.

Speaking to KSN this week, boss Ryan Maxwell told us, “Four games to go, four more cup finals and this week’s game against East Grinstead is a tricky one.”
“They are a decent side on their day, they have got themselves into a very safe place very early and because of that of late, their results have been a bit inconsistent.”
“We are aware of where they are, they are safe with nothing to really play for – and that as I have said before makes them dangerous as they will be nice and relaxed and can afford to enjoy the game. We must make sure that we are absolutely on it and don’t get dragged into it and remember what we are working for.”
“At the minute we are still fighting for the top spot, and we absolutely need these three points. Absolute focus is the order of the day and I’m sure that the boys will be!”
Reflecting on their hosts win over the leaders, Maxwell said, “Thats the thing about this League, it throws up shocks! That was a shock on the night, and I can remember the game as its example of what can happen if you’re not on it and they are, it’s as simple as that!”
“We will give them full respect, we know that they are dangerous, which they definitely are, we know their players, we know how they play and are a good side on their day and have been safe now for a while. They are at home, and we have to make sure that our mentality is absolutely spot on, and we approach it in the correct manner.”
The Brickies travel after beating Erith Town 3-0 at Woodstock last weekend, their sixteenth win in seventeen home League games! “I know Ramsgate have the same points at home as we have,” Maxwell said.
“But we have only conceded five goals at home all season which is a remarkable achievement, and I don’t know if anyone can better that in the whole country this season. It’s an incredible record and the players have been phenomenal at home.”
“They have been incredible away as well, but they have been phenomenal at home as well and I think a lot of the reason has been our supporters as well. They must get their credit for it too – Woodstock has become an absolute fortress – we know that the record had to stay tremendous until the season is done; the boys must get credit but so must the fans, it has been a real joint effort.”
Maxwell’s squad is boosted this weekend by the return from suspension of Joe Boachie and skipper Bagasan Graham from illness, whilst there are concerns about the fitness of Lex Allen. “He had a real sickness bug on Saturday morning,” the Brickies boss explained.
“To get your captain back is fantastic, a player of his ability back is double positive, and the boys were delighted to see him back at training this week – he’s raring to go! Joe is back too which is tremendous, and we are waiting on Lex, and we can assess what is best for him! Other than that, it’s all systems go to East Grinstead!”
