Gillingham defender Scott Malone has signed for Crawley Town for an undisclosed fee.
The 33-year-old left-back joined the Gills last summer on a two-year deal and made 48 appearances in 2023/24, scoring four times.
His strike at home to Sutton United in late December was voted “Goal of the Season” with his precise powerful volley finding the top right corner of the net at the Rainham End.
Malone came through the academy ranks at Wolves and went on to represent Millwall, Cardiff, Fulham and Derby County in a career which has seen the defender feature in nearly 500 competitive fixtures.
He joins a Crawley side who won promotion to League One in May, defeating Crewe Alexandra 2-0 in the Play-Off Final at Wembley.
Speaking about joining Scott Lindsey’s side, Malone said:
“I am really excited for the opportunity to play for Crawley, and I am delighted to be here. I have said for a few years now that I have wanted to play for this club.”
“I married into the area ten years ago as my wife is in Broadfield, so it has always been a dream of mine. I am also happy to have got the deal done so early.”
“The lads are back in early next week, so I am excited to get back in and meet everyone.”
