Kent’s two National League sides meet for the second time this season tonight when Maidstone United entertain Bromley at The Gallagher Stadium.
Bromley go into the game still with an outside chance of making the promotion play offs after their 1-0 win away at Yeovil Town on Saturday thanks to an early goal from Besart Topalloj.
The victory in Somerset moved The Ravens up to ninth in the table with 55 points from 38 league games, seven points off the top seven, but with three teams around them to play on the run in.
Manager Andy Woodman said his side have eight cup finals to play between now and May to keep their chances alive.
The Stones currently sit bottom of the table with 24 points from 39 matches played, fourteen points off safety and seemingly already consigned to a return to National League South next season.
Manager George Elokobi was given the job until the end of the campaign last week, having taken over from Hakan Hayrettin on an interim basis the previous month.
On Saturday Maidstone lost 2-1 at home to Woking having lead through Josh Shonibare’s goal just after the break, only to conceded twice later on in the half.
When the teams met at Hayes Lane in September, Bromley ran out 3-0 winners with goals from Omar Sowunmi and two from Adam Marriott, despite having to play with defender Chris Bush in goal for most of the second half after Reice Charles-Cook was injured.
This is the closest thing to a derby either side has in the league this season and with both teams needing points to keep hope alive at either end of the table this should be a hard fought encounter in front of a big crowd.
