Maidstone United snatched victory in the 94th minute after Harrow had blatantly wasted time & some would say got their just rewards.
The game started with Harrow on the front foot & after 15 minutes you would have thought that they were top not Maidstone as Maidstone seemed lack lustre then in the 16th minute the first real chance of the game came when Alex Flisher retrieved the ball from a corner & then exchanged passes with Ben Greenhalgh but his shot was deflected into Charlie Horlock’s mid drift.
Two minutes later Harrow could & maybe should have taken the lead when Danny May crossed into the area for Harold Odametey on his own 5 yards out but his header was weak & Lee Worgan easily saved it.
The game was now becoming stretched & in the 22nd minute Jack Parkinson won the ball in midfield & James Rogers collected the ball ran forward & slid the ball into the path of Flisher but from 10 yards out he blasted his shot over the bar.
Two minutes later Flisher had another chance when he chased down a long ball dispossessed Francis Otira but from an acute angle Horlock saved it.
Another chance came in the 29th minute when a Greenhalgh corner to the back post saw Parkinson’s header go over the bar then in the 31st minute Steve Watt fouled Odametey 25 yards out & up stepped May who blasted his free kick over the wall & into the back of the net.
In the last minute of the half a Matt Bodkin corner to the back post found Watt who headed back into the middle for Sonny Miles but his header went just over the bar.
Half time arrived & Jay Saunders would have to deliver a great team talk to get his players going again while Dave Anderson would want the same again from his players.
Maidstone came out as if their ears were ringing from the manager’s speech as in the 47th minute Flisher & Frannie Collin combined leaving Flisher in the area but his scuffed shot was easily saved by Horlock.
Two minutes later a ball into the area found Jay May who appeared to be fouled by Anthony Maissiat but the referee played on with the ball going out to Tom Mills whose cross into the area saw May’s shot deflect for a corner but with all the Maidstone players appealing for handball.
Another half chance came in the 57th minute when a free kick into the area was half cleared to Bodkin whose shot was blocked & cleared.
Maidstone were now plying all the pressure & another chance came in the 64th minute when a long ball forward saw May head it on for Collin who raced into the area but his hooked shot went over Horlock & the bar.
Two minutes later a Flisher corner into the area was headed forward & Collin one yard out flicked but was given off side was this going to be a frustrating night for the Stones, then in the 79th minute they got their just rewards when Ashley Miller on the right avoided May’s challenge went forward before his low cross to the far post found Flisher who stabbed home from 3 yards.
Another two minutes later Worgan came to the rescue when Odametay received the ball 20 yards out & his shot was parried away by Worgan. With time running out Maidstone went for the winner & in the 85th minute Miller to Flisher who flicked on for May but his header under pressure went wide & then in the 87th minute Aaron Simpson’s cross into the area found Parkinson but his header came back of the crossbar.
In the last minute of normal time May was put through by Flisher into the area but shot wide it seemed that Maidstone would have to settle for a point then 7 minutes of added time came & in the 94th minute a Flisher long throw was cleared back to him & his low cross to the near post saw Collin instinctly move towards it & stab home from 3 yards.
The final whistle went & relief went around the stadium but maybe justice was done after all the time wasting Harrow did.
