Maidstone go through to the next round to face Eastleigh by getting the winner 2 minutes into added on time but Wealdstone can count themselves unlucky as they had most of the chances but didn’t put them away.
The game was only 27 seconds old when Tom Pett’s crossed into the Maidstone box for Luke Pidgen whose header from 18 yards sailed just over the bar. In the 5th minute Pett on the right crossed into the area for McGleish 15 yards out but he shot over the bar.
Maidstone finally got into the act in the 9th minute when Charley Robertson waltzed his way into the area before laying the ball into the path of Frannie Collin but from 15 yards he blazed his shot over the bar.
Four minutes later a Michael Phillips free kick as laid sideways into the path of Collin who from 25 yards shot just wide. The game ebbed & flowed for the next 15 minutes without either side causing any problems then in the 30th minute Alex Flisher on the back post received the ball & his stretching leg from an acute angle saw the ball go over the bar.
In the 42nd minute Maidstone nearly scored when Fabio Saraiva running forward saw his shot from 20 yards pushed away by Jonathan North but into the path of Collin & his shot was blocked by James Hammond & then in the last bit of action of the half Wealdstone nearly scored when Jey Siva running forward on the left passed out wide to Pigden whose cross was deflected goalwards by Jerome Sobers causing Lee Worgan to acrobatically push the ball around the post for a corner.
The second half started with Maidstone on the front foot & in the 47th minute a Flisher cross into the area hit Thomas Hamblin & a debatable penalty was given. Collin stepped up & his penalty was saved by North & cleared, would Maidstone rue this chance.
Two minutes later Pett running forward chipped to the backpost where McGleish was on his own but his shot from 10 yards went wide. The game was now getting stretched & in the 67th minute a Collin cross to the backpost found Robertson who won the ball & crossed low to Saraiva whose shot from 10 yards was blocked, two minutes later Jonny Wright moving forward saw his shot from 20 yards pushed away by Worgan but straight to McGleish but again he shot wide.
Another chance came in the next minute when Siva on the left wing passed inside the area for McGleish whose shot was saved by Worgan.
Two minutes later Pigden found himself in space 10 yards but he shot over the bar. Maidstone came back & in the 76th Robertson went on a mazy run passed to Collin but his shot went over the bar, a minute later Robertson on the right passed inside for Michael Phillips whose shot from 18 yards was punched away by North.
In the 83rd minute Pett put Wright in & he ran into the area before shooting Worgan was able to hold on to it & then in the 85th minute Flisher down the left crossed low for Collin on the back post but he seemed to stumble & the ball just hit him & was cleared.
Time was running out for both teams & extra time was looming when in the 92nd minute Rory Hill only been on for 6 minutes went on a mazy run down the right & his shot was punched clear by North into the path of Flisher whose low cross to the backpost found Zac Attwood who from 5 yards stabbed home to the delight of the home supporters.
