On their first visit to The Gallagher Stadium Bromley came out on top in a thoroughly entertaining Kent derby thanks to a goal in either half and a great penalty save from Alan Julian.
With a change in formation The Ravens looked a lot more solid lining up 4-4-2 and they took the game to The Stones early on with George Porter latching on to a Tobi Sho-Silva flick and shooting past Lee Worgan only for Jamie Coyle to clear the danger.
The Ravens continued to press with Max Porter, Joe Anderson and Reece Prestedge all going close. With more bite in midfield Bromley gave Maidstone very little time and they took a deserved lead on 24 minutes when Dave Martin broke down the left and cut in to the box before firing a low drive which Worgan could only parry into the path of George Porter who converted from close range.
Max Porter had a shot deflected wide, George Porter headed a chance across goal and Blair Turgott hit a free kick just over as the visitors had a superb spell with Maidstone pinned back.
Late in the half though Liam Enver-Maram created a chance for himself on the edge of the box and his a powerful low shot which narrowly skidded wide.
Bromley started the second half in great style with Turgott going close twice breaking down the right a driving the ball over from tight angles and George Porter forced a save from Worgan. Enver-Maram was denied by Julian as the game opened up, but The Ravens still had the better chances.
Prestedge shot just wide before the second goal came on 55 minutes. Anthony Acheampong Slipped in midfield and Sho-Silva pounced on the loose ball before surging into the box and smashing the ball past Worgan from ten yards out.
Maidstone rallied from this point and they had strong spell of pressure with Alex Flisher’s long throws and Ben Greenhalgh’s dead ball delivery testing Julian on numerous occasions, but the Bromley stopper held up well to the test.
Greenhalgh and Enver-Maram were both denied by Julian before The Stones were gifted a golden opportunity to get back into the game on 75 minutes when Joe Howe was judged to have fouled Jack Paxman just inside the box as the two players collided and the referee pointed to the spot.
Enver-Maram took the penalty, but his well struck spot kick was brilliantly palmed away by Julian to keep Bromley two up.
Coyle headed a corner over soon after before Bromley suffered the blow of losing George Porter to what looked a serious ankle injury.
The Stones pressed again late on with former Bromley striker Jay May having a header saved, but The Ravens held out in the six minutes of injury time to record a fine win on the road.
Bromley now travel to high flying Forest Green Rovers on Saturday buoyed by the confidence of this battling win, while Maidstone possibly suffering the effects of playing with ten men for an hour at the weekend must regroup for their home game with Guiseley.
