Dartford progressed to the quarter final of the Kent Senior Cup after a stunning strike eliminated 10 man Maidstone United.
The only goal of the game came when Ky Marsh-Brown curled a shot into the top corner.
Surprisingly Maidstone only made two changes from the team that played Saturday whilst Dartford, on the other hand, made nine.
In the first half both sides had efforts that failed to test either goalkeeper, with Sheringham missing the best chance, shooting wide after a delightful cross.
The deadlock was, however, broken in the 32nd minute after some good approach play from Dartford led to Marsh-Brown picking the ball up at the corner area. With not much on he decided to shoot and gave the goalkeeper no chance.
As the first half came to a close Maidstone’s players appeared to lose their heads. Elokobi was lucky to receive just a yellow card after a reckless tackle on Sheringham. Lewis Knight then saw red after 2 bookings in quick succession for poor challenges.
In the second half Dartford had two glorious chances to extend their lead. Sheringham got behind the defence then over-hit his pass that would have left Nash with a tap in.
Lewington then pulled off a great save to deny Nash at his near post, when he should have passed to Sheringham.
Despite their man advantage, Dartford had goalkeeper Smith to thank for pulling off a world class save, tipping a long range effort from Boucard onto the bar in the last minute.
This Saturday both teams are at home in the National League South. Maidstone host Oxford City whilst Dartford entertain Dulwich Hamlet.
