Maidstone Hockey to host Open Day

On Sunday 8th September Maidstone HC are hosting an ‘Open Day’ at the club with a mixed 7-a-side tournament for everybody – member or not.Hockey pic

If you’re not a hockey player, all the more reason to come along –  and it’s open to all ages.

This is part of England Hockey Board’s ‘Harvester’ National Club Weekend.  It is aimed at giving an opportunity for both new and existing players to pick up a stick and join in the fun.

Taking up hockey is a great opportunity to make new friends and get regular exercise in a fun and sociable environment. And you’ll love the satisfaction of scoring your first goal!  In all 200 clubs are participating nationwide.

At Maidstone the 7s tournament is being run from 12 noon. As people arrive they will be allocated into teams. The idea is to have totally mixed teams, with ladies, men, juniors and those new to the sport all taking part in each team.

And it’s free. Matches will be on half the pitch, so there’ll be two contests at once.

And there’s more…. there’ll be a goodie bag (new, exciting EHB branded gifts) for everyone. And there’s a good chance an England international player will be making an appearance – so you’ll be able to say how well they performed at the recent Euros.

The tournament will end with socialising in the clubhouse. There will be a bar-b-q, refreshments and prize giving.

Chairman, Roger Daniels, said:

“It’s great to be part of this EHB national initiative partnered by ‘Harvester Restaurants’. After the successes of our ladies and men at the Eurohockey championships in Belgium now is absolutely the right time to remind people what a great sport this is.”

“As important this will be a day full of fun.  As the photograph shows, we welcome anybody of any age”
