Maidstone Hockey Club are on the lookout for new stars and are holding trials for aspiring players this weekend.
Both of Maidstone’s top teams see action this weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) as they participate in key friendly tournaments prior to the start of the league season. The rest of the Club have trials.
Maidstone Men’s 1s are at Bristol to participate in the University of West England event. They are playing the likes of Corinthians, Firebrands, Litchfield, Brighton, & UWE Bristol. Their first match in South Region League, Premier Division 2 is at home on Saturday 1st October, 13.45 against West Hampstead.
The Ladies’ 1s are at Holcombe HC (up the road) in the PLUM tournament. On Saturday they play two matches – 11.00am v St Albans, & 3pm v Barnes. Two more on Sunday – 10.30am v West Herts, & 12.30 v Old Loughtonians. They also play OL in their first match in the England Hockey League, Conference East on Saturday 17th September, 12.30. In preparation for the Ladies’ matches, the club hosted a three way tournament on Saturday 3rd September. They won both matches – v BromBecs 3-2; & v Bedford 2-1.
The rest of the club are at home this Saturday (10th), participating in interclub matches, for selection. At 10.30am (til 12.30) it is the Ladies’ section; at 13.30pm (til 3.30) it is the Men’s section. All followed at 4pm by a bar-b-que. The juniors have their second training session on Sunday 11th. Anyone is welcome to any of these events – just turn up and introduce yourself to the coaches.
