Kent County Cricket Club has today confirmed that Azhar Mahmood has been released to allow him to take part in the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL).
Mahmood will play for Wayamba United for the next two weeks.
This competition concludes on 31 August 2012, following which Azhar will be available for Kent for the remainder of the season.
Due to expected Indian Premier League and now SLPL commitments, the Club also confirmed that Azhar Mahmood’s contract for 2013 will not now be renewed, but discussions regarding a possible Twenty20 contract remain live.
Mahmood last played for Kent in their six wicket win over Warwickshire at Edgbaston in the CB40 on Monday night with his last Championship game against Essex last week.
The former Pakistan all-rounder will miss the Spitfires final three CB40 fixtures of the season, but would be available should they make it through to the Semi-Final and Final stages.
