Motor sport fans are in for a real treat as the European Rallycross Championship comes to Lydden Hill this Easter weekend.
Crowds of around 10,000 are expected to pack into the Kent circuit for the event in association with Monster Energy.
Lydden’s headline event has attracted the world’s best rallycross racers including former world rally champion Petter Solberg and his brother Henning, from Norway (both in Citroen DS3 models) and last year’s winner at Lydden, Tanner Faust from the United States. The charismatic Californian, who is also a TV presenter in America, is fully backed by the Ford factory.
Local interest centres around the British Rallycross Champion Julian Godfrey who is from Sussex, and Lydden Circuit owner and former British champion Pat Doran and his son Liam (Citroen DS3) who was runner up in the European Championship last year.
With the track sitting in a natural amphitheatre, fans get a great view of all the action and are set to see some superb racing over the two days.
All three classes of the rallycross series, the supercar, super1600, and touring car, will be on show in qualifying and practice on Sunday, and Monday morning before the finals on Monday afternoon.
On Sunday doors open at 9am, with racing from 12.30-5pm. On Monday doors open at 7am, and racing starts at 10am. For more information visit www.lyddenhill.co.uk
