Chairman Paul Scally has confirmed that Steve Lovell will remain Gills Manager until the end of the season at least.
Steve Lovell has been appointed Gillingham Manager until the end of the season.
Lovell took charge of first team affairs, initially on a caretaker basis, on October 12 and has since won four of his seven games in charge, two of those wins coming against Peterborough and Rotherham.
He has also helped guide the club to the second round of the FA Cup after defeating Leyton Orient 2-1 at MEMS Priestfield Stadium at the start of November.
Speaking about his appointment, Lovell was proud to have been made Gillingham manager on a permanent basis:
“I knew I had a chance. I believed in my own ability and it’s important now to keep the players on top of their game.”
“It’s lovely to be in this position. The boys are confident, they’re fit and if the performances are right we shouldn’t have a problem against anybody.”
“It’s a great feeling, I’ve enjoyed the last few weeks and it’s something I’m very proud of.”
Steve was also nominated for October’s League One Manager of the Month award.
