Lordswood 0-1 Bracknell Town
Lordswood 0-1 Bracknell Town

Lordswood just could not get over the line to get to the last 32 of this competition but they gave it a go especially in the second half, while Bracknell go on but will tell you this was their hardest match so far.

The game started at a quick pace with both teams going for it & in the 2nd minute Jordan Wells on the edge of the area received the ball & went into the area before seeing his shot from 15 yards go just past the post.

Three minutes later & Bracknell had a glorious chance to score when a quick free kick found Joe Grant on the right wing he travelled into the area & was just about to shoot when Tom Montgomery came across & tackled him. In the 9th minute Seb Bowerman latched onto a long ball went into the area & his shot went inches past the post.

In the 11th minute Bracknell scored when a long ball forward was flicked on for Grant who let it bounce before volleying past Chandler from 15 yards, a minute later Wells on the right saw his near post cross side volleyed wide of the post by Jack Mahon. In the 15th minute Adam Cornell found himself on his own 20 yards out & his chipped shot was easily saved by Ryan Chandler, a minute later Bowerman running from half way saw his shot tipped away for a corner by Chandler.

The game settled down after the frenetic start as both teams slowed down but still were trying to score but neither keeper was called into action.  The last half chance of the half came in the 42nd minute when Liam Newton’s cross was half cleared to Helge Orame who from 15 yards saw his shot go inches over the bar. The half time whistle went & Richard Styles had some work to do but with only being a goal down they still had a chance.

The second half was only three minutes old when Bracknell could have doubled their lead when Adam Kirby passed to Bowerman in the area & his shot from 12 yards was saved by Chandler & cleared. In the 60th minute Jamie McClurg in the area had two attempts at goal with the second going wide.

Lordswood suddenly got into the game & started to pressurise Bracknell & in the 62nd minute Wells got to the by-line, his low cross evaded everyone, was hacked away then six minutes later luck was not with Lordswood as Frankie Griffin on the right chipped into the area for James Huggins who saw his shot beat Chris Grade but come back of the inside of the post & ran across the goal line before being cleared.

As the game wore on both sides were leaving gaps, Bracknell were the better team to create chances, in the 77th minute Grant went into the area and saw his shot saved by Chandler, then two minutes later Bowerman went into the area & his shot was parried away by Chandler. In the 86th minute Grant again on the right saw his cross shot deflected for a corner.

Time was running out, Lordswood were trying to create one more chance but in going forward they lost possession & the ball went out to the right wing & in a moment of madness Chandler came rushing out of his area & took Grant out & could count himself lucky that he only received a yellow card.

The final whistle went and Lordswood came off disappointed that they had not at least got a draw but now they can concentrate on the League in which they are having a great season so far.
