Eleven goals scored, a new import secured, a busy penalty box was all part of the drama as the Invicta Dynamos secured two crucial points to go top of the league ready for the top of the league clash at Gillingham on Sunday against the Chelmsford Chieftains.

With Billy and Charlie Phillips serving the second game of five match bans, Dynamos coach Kevin Parrish also had to contend with Grant Baxter, Mark Lee and Brad Gutridge being absent. Parrish elected to sign ex-Streatham import Michal Oravec and ex-Whitelink Tigers netminder Aaron Craft before the game. There was also a call-up for Ashley Jackson.

Ex-Romford Raiders forward Juraj Huska was the first man on the score sheet on 01:36 as the Slovakian rifled the puck past Michael Gray after being played behind the Raiders defence by Nicky Lewis.  On 04:29 Callum Fowler had a shot well saved by Gray but with the rebound dropped to Andy Smith who stroked the puck into the back of the net to give Invicta a two goal cushion with Fowler also claiming his 400^th career point for the assist. D-man Harrison Lillis claimed the second assist. Under a minute from scoring the second goal, the Dynamos were three nil to the good curtesy of captain Anthony Leone on 05:15 with Steve Osman claiming the assist.

Michael Gray ended the first period facing 21 shots from the Dynamos, whilst at the other end Steve Nightingale was called upon on only several occasions as he and the defence held firm. First period penalties were also reasonably quiet with Raiders Stevie Dunnage (12:40) and Ross Wilkinson (16:11) both getting 2 minute high stick calls and Callum Fowler (7:43) also getting called for the same offence by referee Blaine Evans.

Anthony Leone doubled his goal tally in the second period as he weaved his way through a few Raiders bodies and beat Gray on 21:50 to claim the best goal of the night. Arran Strawson ws awarded the assist – the first of four assists for the Dynamos D-man.

Four seconds after scoring, Leone took a seat in the penalty box for hooking but that was not to prevent the Dynamos scoring shorthanded when Juraj Huska was able to claim his second goal and Steve Osman’s second assist on 23:52 to make the scoreboard read five nil to the visitors. The one man advantage helped London Raiders on their way to their first goal on 24:41, Josh Condren scoring and assists claimed by Vaclav Drabek and Jacob Ranson.

A major talking point came in the 25^th minute after Dynamos netminder Steve Nightingale was sprayed after collecting and making the puck safe. Forward Andy Smith was first on the scene to protect his teammate, with referee Blaine Evans calling a match penalty on Smith for spearing.

The penalty box was to open-up again after Callum Fowler and  Vaclav Drabek clashed on 26:12 to earn two minute roughing penalties. Harrison Lillis, two minutes for holding Dan Peters stick and Peters himself, two plus two minutes for hooking and roughing also took seats in the box as referee Blaine Evans took no prisoners on the ice.

Shorthanded Dynamos got the goal scoring back into the play on 29:18 as Callum Fowler made it 6-1 in favour of the Mo’s. Fowler’s assisting colleagues being Juraj Huska and Arran Strawson. Anthony Leone immediately got called-up for slashing at the restart for his second penalty of the night.

London Raiders pulled a second goal back on 37:51, Vaclav Drabek firing past Nightingale with Ross Wilkinson assisting. Harrison Lillis returned back to the penalty box on 38:15 for delaying the game and was shortly joined by Callum Fowler (2 + 10 minutes) on 38:22 for holding Jack Cooper’s stick and misconduct on the match official – Cooper also received two minutes for roughing on Fowler. Shorthanded Invicta scored their third shorthanded goal of the night on 38:47 as Juraj Huska claimed his hat-trick, Elliott Dewey assisting as the Mo’s stretched the lead to 7-2.  Raiders Phil Manny was penalised for hooking shortly before the end of 2^nd period buzzer.

Michal Oravec claimed his first Dynamos goal in the 45^th minute, picking-up Arran Strawson’s pass to jig at Gray and lift the puck over the netminder’s glove. That was to be the last action for Gray as he was replaced for George Alley.

Lewis Jones scored unassisted to make it 8-3, with Blaine Evans again in the thick of the action.  The shot from Jones didn’t bulge the Dynamos net and with a delay in calling the goal, Evans finally awarded the goal as legal. Elliott Dewey continued the protests on behalf of the Dynamos who were convinced the puck didn’t cross the line and received a ten minute misconduct charge for his troubles.

London Raiders were reduced to three players on the ice after Ross Wilkinson (Charging) and Vaclav Drabek (interference) were penalised for two minutes each. Invicta took advanced and scored a powerplay goal on 49:21 with Steve Osman claiming a well-deserved goal for his all-round display and increase the score line to 9-4. 9^th goal assists being claimed by Juraj Huska and Arran Strawson.

The Dynamos reached double figures on 51:19 when Juraj Huska stroked home his 4^th goal of the night after clever build-up play by ex-Raider Frankie Harvey.

Jacob Ranson scored Raiders last goal of the night to bring the score back to 10-4 but Ashley Jackson inflicted more pain on the Raiders as he stroked home the last Dynamos goal on 59:07 as the scores finished at 11-4 to the visitors.

Man of the match awards were handed out to four goal king Juraj Huska for the travelling Dynamos and Dan Peters for the hosts.
