With the new Women’s domestic season starting this weekend, Chatham Town Women have been dealt a big blow with the news that boss Dan Logue has left the Club.
In a statement on the Club website, it says, “Dan Logue, First Team Manager of Chatham Town Women, has today (Wednesday) departed the club with immediate effect.”
“Dan offered his resignation yesterday evening in order to pursue an opportunity within the women’s professional game. As a club we wish Dan every success with his new venture and will commence the process of finding the right person who shares our vision and values.”
In a separate announcement made later on Wednesday, the Club confirmed the appointment of Logue’s assistant Jesus Cordon to the interim coach’s role, with the website reporting:
“JC has held many coaching roles within the women’s professional game and will bring his wealth of experience and stability to the team, as we prepare for this Sundays FA Women’s National League Premier South opener. No further announcement will be made at this time.”
The timing of Logue’s departure isn’t good for the Chats as the ladies are in final preparations for the first game of their new season on Sunday – at home to newly promoted Hashtag United – just ninety minutes after the scheduled finish of the Women’s World Cup Final in Sydney.
So, who is Jesus Cordon? A Spanish national – the dressing room could be “interesting” depending on the result in Sydney – who steps us from his assistant’s role under the departed Logue.
Holds a UEFA B coaching license and before coming to Kent had held similar roles with Lewes Women and the Crawley Wasps and takes over at the Bauvill with the Women’s team poised for potentially their most exciting season in living memory.
