Gillingham manager Steve Evans has added a wide left midfielder to his squad with the capture of former Salford City and Peterborough United player, Danny Lloyd.
The 29-year-old joins the Gills ahead of the 2021/22 season having turned down a new contract offer at Tranmere Rovers, and several in League 1, and begins training with the squad immediately ahead of Saturday’s friendly against Welling United at Park View Road.
Lloyd also played under the Gills boss at Peterborough United having signed for the club on a three-year deal in the summer of 2017.
In the summer of 2018 Danny joined Salford for a fee in excess of £250,000 and he signed a three-year deal. Danny was a regular at London Road, playing 46 times and scoring six goals.
On capturing his man, the Gills boss said: “Lloydy is a top player who was excellent at Tranmere last season.
“He showed a commitment to work with Paul and myself by turning down more lucrative contracts from League 1 and League 2 clubs.
“The lad has a great left foot, works his socks off and is a very nice signing.
“No one enjoys playing against him. Gary Neville is, in my opinion, an excellent judge of a player and his club bought him for decent money.
“I look forward to working with him again.”
