Charlton got through the final day of the transfer window without losing any senior players.

There were fears in some quarters that there would be a firesale in January, with the club cashing in on its major playing assets.

Those fears proved to be unfounded, the only major player to leave was Ricky Holmes, who made no secret of his desire to play at a higher level.

Many expected Ezri Konsa to join a Premier League club in January, but he remains at The Valley.

The club were willing to let him go if the right offer came in, but the Addicks rebuffed several offers as they did not match their valuation.

Bolton – armed with £6million from the sale of Gary Madine to Cardiff – made several late bids for Josh McGennis. Again,‎ the club knocked them back.

Other than Holmes, the only permanent departure was Under-23 right-back, Aaron Barnes, who joined Colchester on Wednesday.

Though Robinson was not‎ able to supplement his squad with any permanent deals, he did bring in three quality loan signings – Stephy Mavididi from Arsenal, Michal Zyro from Wolves, and Sullay Kaikai from Crystal Palace.

The trio are all exciting attacking players, and much will be expected of them.

It has been a good window for the club, and they are in a far better place now than many dared hope.

Karl Robinson gave his view on the January deals to the club’s site:

‎”We’re really happy, we’ve got a lot of our young players out on loan playing, we’ve kept our players who are integral to our starting line-up. We’ve brought in three top loans.

“This is my third transfer window and the money we’ve spent has been very, very minimal. It’s been hard but we’re in a good place and hopefully people appreciate that we’re all working around the clock to achieve what we want to achieve for this football club.

“It’s been a good window. We haven’t spent as much money as some of the other clubs around us, but we’ve been very smart and very cute in what we’ve tried to do.

“We feel we’ve added to the squad. We’ve kept the door locked even though there was a number of people banging on it trying to offer for some of our players.

“The stance of the football club was that Ezri Konsa would be available at a price. We got offered a number of different deals, it didn’t meet our expectation so everyone was happy for him to stay, none more than me.”
