Following Saturday’s unfortunate defeat, Welling United are back on the road on Tuesday evening for another Skrill Premier fixture.FOOTBALL (WELLING AWAY)

Although dominating at Nuneaton on Saturday, the hosts scored from their only two meaningful attacks leaving Welling to rue a host of missed chances.

On Tuesday, the visit Lincoln City who returned from Alfreton Town on Saturday with a 1-1 draw, courtesy of an injury time equaliser from Sean Newton.

Only 12 points separate 3rd placed Alfreton and 17th placed Braintree Town so the chase for play-off places is still wide open. Whilst the Imps are in sixteenth place they are only two points behind Welling who are five places higher although Lincoln have played two games more.

In November, Welling edged a tight match with Lincoln thanks to Jake Gallagher’s 53rd minute goal.

The Imps have won eight home league games this season, drawing five and losing five. Like Welling, they were eliminated from the F.A. Cup by Plymouth Argyle. Skrill North, North Ferribly United won 3-0 at Lincoln’s Sincil Bank to finish their F.A. Trophy hopes.

Welling manager Jamie Day may look to shuffle his pack to keep the squad fresh as the Wings look to pass the 50 point mark and retain their place in the top half of the table.
