Welling United came back from going a goal down to secure all three points at Lincoln City on Tuesday night.
A slow start for Welling was punished in the 5th minute when Kris Bright made the most of two defensive errors to mark his Imps debut with a goal.
Ben Tomlinson might have doubled the hosts advantage but headed over from close range.
Twice more Lincoln threatened before Welling picked themselves up and took a hold on the game.
Toby Ajala had a long shot saved, Harry Beautyman fired wide then Nick Townsend saved from Loui Fazakerley.
Jake Gallagher’s yellow card means he will miss Welling’s next two matches but the Wings supporters were soon smiling again as Josh Wakefield scored his first goal for the Wings with a stunning shot from 25 yards.
Four minutes later Welling drove home there advantage when Beautyman’s shot took a large deflection to wrong-foot Townsend. Tobi Sho-Silva was the architect having taken on the defence with a powerful run and composed pull back.
As Lincoln reeled, Welling should have been awarded a penalty when Joe Healy was bundled over in the penalty area, then Townsend made an outstanding save from Blaine Hudson’s header.
Townsend had to show great composure early in the second half, taking the ball around Sho-Silva has he closed him down. He was soon in action again saving from Ajala.
Another excellent run from Sho-Silva again saw him tee up Beautyman but Townsend again made a great save at full stretch.
Basile Karagiannis came on for his first Welling appearance in place of Wakefield with 12 minutes remaining.
Alfie Mawson brought another save out of Townsend before Jamie Turner, in just his second game of the season, ensured Welling claimed the three points with a fine low save from Alan Power.
