Brett Lidsey will be flying the flag in the Michelin Clio Cup Race Series at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend.
They are heading to Belgium as part of the Classic Touring Car Championship’s visit to the iconic racing circuit.
Joining an impressive bill which includes the Supercar Challenge, the Benelux Clio Cup and Formula Renault 1.6 NEC Junior, the two Renault Clio racers are relishing the prospect of competing at Spa for the first time and also showcasing the burgeoning Michelin Clio Cup Series.
Running in the Thunder Invitation Class, both Lidsey will join an eclectic grid of cars in the BARC [British Automobile Racing Club] administered Classic Touring Car Championship which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
Lidsey, who finished eighth overall in the Race Series this season with one podium and three other results inside the top six, will pilot his regular 2.0-litre normally aspirated third generation racing Clio Cup car and is thrilled to have the chance to compete at Spa.
Speaking ahead of the weekend, Brett said: “I did actually have an opportunity to race with SV [Racing] in the Renault UK Clio Cup at Brands Hatch next weekend, but I don’t think I’m ready for that yet.
“Then, this opportunity came up to race in our Clio at Spa so we wanted to take it – I want to get as much seat time as I can and to go to Spa for the first time will be great.
“By 2016 I want to attack the Renault UK Clio Cup, so next year we want to do another year in the Clio Cup Series to prepare for that properly. Since moving to 20Ten Racing we’ve been faster and getting better, I don’t want to lose what we’ve built up by being out of the car too long. Spa’s a great chance to have some more track time at a really fantastic circuit.”
