Dartford’s Brett Lidsey has today confirmed that he will return to the Clio Cup Series for a second season.
The competition is also in its second season and the series is flourishing and once again it is expected to be competitive in 2014.
The 22-year-old will enter the series as a privateer for the second time, and he is going to be aiming to improve on the two podiums that he achieved in the 2013 season.
He will once again be driving a 2.0 litre third generation Renault Clio as the series takes to the track for a twelve race championship for the first time.
Lidsey is no stranger to motorsport having raced in motocross as a schoolboy before moving into four wheels in 2011.
He made his debut in the Canons Motor Spares Tin Top Saloon Series, which saw him when the T3 class in 2012. He then moved into the Michelin Clio Cup Series, taking his maiden podium in the last race of last season, with a second place finish.
Following this he entered the end of year Autumn Cup, where he secured his second podium with a third place in the second round.
He will be joined in the series again by Pete Bennett, speaking about the return of Brett to the series championship promoter Simon North was delighted.
He said: “Seeing Brett and Pete return to the Michelin Clio Cup Race Series really is fantastic news, they both played a big part in the success of our first season last year.
“Brett improved well throughout the year and thoroughly deserved his first podium at Brands Hatch, especially being his home track. He should have a great season in 2014.”
