Bromley recorded the double over over ten man Orient in a dramatic match at Brisbane Road on Saturday to keep on the edge of the play off spots.
The game started with a major incident when Bondz Ngala was shown a straight red card for a foul on George Porter who was through on goal at the edge of the box after only four minutes. Louis Dennis’ free kick was comfortably saved by Dean Brill, bit from there The Ravens dominated the first half, passing the ball well and using pace on both wings.
After a strong spell of pressure around the area it eventually paid off on 21minutes when Luke Wanadio played in Dennis who coolly slotted the ball past Brill for 1-0. Orient finally got going just after the half hour when Daniel Happe headed a free kick against the post, but The Ravens still created more chances with Dennis forcing one save and firing another effort narrowly wide.
Late in the half Orient had a series of corner following a Craig Clay shot which deflected wide, but the closest they came was when James Dayton shot over from 25yards.
The second half started with a bizarre refereeing decision that saw Jack Holland punished for what looked like a late challenge by Dayton. The O’s dominated possession for most of the half and at no stage looked like they were down to ten men.
Happe had a shot cleared off the line by Frankie Sutherland and Alex Lawless hit a superb curling effort which was brilliantly saved by David Gregory. Clay hit the bar with a header from a corner as the home side threatened from every set piece and Macauley Bonne headed another great chance over soon after.
Dayton went close again before Bromley missed their only chance of the second period when a long ball from Gregory found Brett Williams, but the striker chipped the ball over the bar from 20yards out.
Late on Orient piled on the pressure, Clay fired over before Jake Caprice had a low effort saved by Gregory at the near post and Bonne sent the rebound over from six yards when it looked easier to score.
Bromley held out for the three points and finish a fine 2017 for Neil Smith’s side.
The Ravens are back in action on New Years night when they entertain Ebbsfleer Utd at Hayes Lane in front of the BT Sport cameras.
