Lewisham Borough v SC Thamesmead preview

Ladywell Stadium hosts a SCEFL Division One match this evening when Lewisham Borough entertain SC Thamesmead.

Both teams come into the game on the back of good away performances on Saturday. Lewisham visited Tooting Bec and were well in control until a late comeback almost undid all of their good work. Jordan Bilongo gave the Borough an eighth minute lead, and eight minutes later Adekunle Adeyinka doubled their lead. By half time they were three up, courtesy of a goal by Paul Kamara.

When Kamara added a fourth with fourteen minutes remaining, it looked like the game was over. However, Nile Waite pulled one back with four minutes remaining, and another just before stoppage time. Will Rennie then scored for the hosts but Lewisham held on for the three points.

It was a different type of game for Thamesmead at Staplehurst Monarchs. The visitors went ahead in the eleventh minute through a goal by Steve Karkari and they held the lead until Callum Gallie levelled with sixteen minutes remaining. A win for Staplehurst would have put them in the play off places so it represented a good point for the Acre.

This will be the return meeting between the clubs as Thamesmead hosted Lewisham at the end of August with the hosts claiming the spoils by winning one-nil. Substitute Cameron MacMillan scored the only goal midway through the second half.
