So it’s all back to the Fullicks Stadium on Tuesday then!
Two of the top marksmen in the Isthmian League as Ian Draycott coolly converted a good ball in from Jordan Wright after only five minutes giving Invicta a lead which they held onto till just after the hour.
Then it was last season’s Bostik Premier Golden Boot winner Matt Blake who put the Blues level – with the goal timed at 61 minutes – identical to his consolation effort for the home side as Invicta had romped to that superb 5-1 league win at Victory Road eight days earlier.
Without the suspended Sam Hasler and with Josh Vincent recovering from an injury on the bench, manager Neil Cugley brought Wright and Ryan Cooper into the starting eleven for this Buildbase FA Trophy First Qualifying Round tie.
And it was Invicta who went closest to snatching a winner when Draycott forced an outstanding save from Marcus Garnham in the Leiston goal.
Strike partner Ade Yusuff also saw his best effort of the game cleared off the line.
So with the home league match against Thurrock needing rescheduling through the Essex club’s own FA Trophy replay, home fans will now get their taste of more cup tie action on Tuesday night at Cheriton Road.
(Still, of course with more than three grand in prize money on offer!!)
