The Charlton first team will be looking for three vital points at Elland Road on Tuesday evening.
Barnsley have won their last two games to join the Addicks on 35 points. The Tykes have a tough run in and have played two games more than Charlton, who have a six goal better goal difference.
The Leeds game is one of the postponed games Jose Riga’s team have to play and they need to take advantage of it. Barnsley have made a habit of escaping relegation in recent years and Riga will be anxious to open a gap over the Oakwell outfit before they visit The Valley on 15 April.
Leeds are going through a wretched time off the field and the problems are impacting on the team’s performances. The players only received part of their salaries for March and the Whites lost 2-1 at home to Doncaster on Saturday.
Hopefully, the off field problems at Elland Road will be resolved sooner rather than later, but the Addicks have problems of their own and will try to take advantage of the situation.
Charlton looked far more effective when they switched to 4-4-2 at Derby on Saturday. Riga may opt to use the formation from the start at Elland Road.
Ben Hamer will keep the gloves but the head coach may revert to fit-again Dorian Dervite as Michael Morrison’s partner in the heart of the defence.
Callum Harriott or Astrit Ajdarevic may start on the left side of midfield and Davide Petrucci will be pressing for a starting place.. Ajdarevic missed the Derby game after being struck down with flu. Riga is still searching for his best striking partnership but believes there are goals in his front runners.
Charlton could line-up like this:
Hamer; Wilson, Morrison, Dervite, Wiggins; Cousins, Petrucci, Jackson, Ajdarevic; Obika, Sordell.
Subs: Phillips, Nego, Wood, Green, Poyet, Harriott, Pigott.
The referee will be Scott Duncan of Northumberland.
The Addicks need to convert their games in hand into points and Riga will be looking for his second away win.
Meanwhile, the Charlton Under-21s surrendered a two goal lead at the Amex on Monday evening to draw 2-2 with Brighton.
The Addicks needed a win to keep their slim hopes of making the end of season play-offs alive. Charlton won both the league title and play-off competition last season but have had a disappointing campaign this time round.
Harry Gerard fired the Addicks into a first half lead and volleyed in the second early in the second period.
Unfortunately for the visitors, Craig Mackail-Smith scored twice – the second an absolute screamer – to earn the Seagulls a share of the spoils.
Charlton: Beeney; Pyke (Hanlan 82), Osborne, Lennon, Evina; Koc(Asamoah 89), Gerard (Banjuka 79), Munns, Daniel: Sho-Silva, Parzyszek.
Unused subs: Thomas, Afolabi.
