Early arrivals at Elland Road were engaged in conversation by Katrien Meire who was keen to find out fans views on the network, the shop, the Valley pitch etc.
Katrien was highly impressed with the Leeds club shop and no doubt picked up some food for thought. She also had the costings for the new pitch with her.
Someone else happy to chat with the Charlton fans was Gus Poyet, wonder why he was at Elland Road?!!
Yohann Thuram-Ulien did not travel with the squad and it remains to be seen if there will be any repercussions about his actions.
Jose Riga brought back Astrit Ajdarevic, recovered from a bout of flu, and gave a start to Joe Pigott.
The first half was distinctly lacking in excitement with Charlton’s best effort coming from Dorian Dervite. The defender’s long range shot was turned round the post at full stretch by Jack Butland.
Ross McCormack went closest for Leeds a minute before the interval. His thunderbolt of a shot appeared to get the slightest of touches from Hamer as it cannoned off the bar.
If the first half was found wanting, the second had enough drama to fray the nerves of even the most battle hardened of Addicks fans.
Charlton went in front nine minutes after the restart. Ajdarevic clipped a ball in to Reza Ghoochannejhad on the right hand corner of the area. The Iranian cut inside Stephen Warnock to curl an exquisite shot just inside the far post.
The joy of scoring his first goal in England was plain to see as Reza raced to the small band of travelling fans, cupping his hands to his ears to milk their applause.
He got plenty of that, the supporters were going delirious. Having taken the lead, the Addicks had much the better of things and it was only in the last few minutes that Leeds mounted any sustained pressure.
Just when it looked as though Charlton had seen the game out, they needed another hero. Leeds piled bodies into the box during the five minutes of stoppage time.
In the third minute of added time, Diego Poyet brought a Leeds player down in the box and referee Scott Duncan pointed to the spot. Up stepped McCormack but he was foiled by a superb save from Ben Hamer.
The tension rose as the hosts continued to press but they left themselves open to a swift counter attack. Unfortunately, Jordan Cousins failed to get the better of Jack Butland.
So three more valuable points for Jose Riga who is rapidly becoming the Tuesday night specialist.
