Ashford based WDE Motorsport have confirmed that Charlie Ladell will return to the team for the 2016 Renault UK Clio Cup.

It follows hot on the heels of their announcement that Rory Green is also returning to the team for the coming campaign, showing that consistency is a major factor for the team.
Ladell finished fifth overall in 2015’s UK Clio Cup with the Ashford-based squad with four fourth-place results proof of how close he came to an outright podium finish.

The 19-year-old was also second in the Graduates category for young drivers in their first full year in the championship (he had previously made his debut in 2014). He will therefore surely go into the 2016 season as a potential race-winner and even title challenger.

Speaking about his return, Ladell said: “I’m definitely targeting the top three in the championship and know the areas where I need to improve – a fraction more pace in qualifying so I’m starting that bit higher up the grid and better consistency in my results. With that I know the podiums and hopefully even a few wins will start to come although, as I discovered last year, the UK Clio Cup is massively competitive. It’s down to me.”

WDE Team Principal Wayne Eason was delighted that Charlie has re-joined, he said: “Continuity plays a huge part in achieving the big results so naturally we are delighted to have Charlie joining Rory with us again for the season ahead. Charlie’s speed and aggression last year were very evident – on occasion he even had our triple Champion Paul Rivett looking over his shoulder – and with some nurturing he could very definitely become one of the top names on the grid in 2016.”
