Jayde Kruger was the star of the show on his debut weekend in the Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain yesterday afternoon at Oulton Park.

The young South African eclipsed his two Jamun Racing teammates in both of the races on Sunday afternoon, as he came home second in race one and third in race two of the day.

Dan Cammish once again underlined his dominance of the Championship by taking his 11^th and 12^th victories of the season, he is now streets ahead of his challengers and is clearly targeting Scott Malvern’s tally of back to back wins, which he set in 2011. There is no reason why he won’t equal that and eclipse it the way he is going this season.

Kruger was delighted with his performance in the first race of Sunday afternoon, speaking after the race he said: “We’ve made big strides since we got here on Friday for testing. We’ll get there.”

In race one his teammate Nico Maranzana came home in a solid fifth place and underlines that he is a strong driver in this Formula. Juan Rosso was involved in an incident on lap two which ended his race there and then.

In race two of the weekend Cammish was way out in front of his rivals and indeed he was six seconds ahead of the field by half distance.

Harrison Scott came home in second place and made up for his jump start in the earlier race in the day and Kruger pursued him all the way, but finished 1.6 seconds behind Scott, but he will ultimately be satisfied with his performance in his opening weekend in the Championship.

His teammates Juan Rosso and Nico Maranzana finished in eighth and ninth place respectively in what was a disappointing end to the weekend for the Argentinian due.

The Formula Ford Championship returns in two weeks’ time as the season moves onto Croft in North Yorkshire.
