Kent Cricket have announced that left-arm seamer Fred Klaassen has committed to the Club for a further season, signing a white-ball deal until at least the end of the 2025 season.

The Netherlands international joined the county ahead of the 2019 season, and in T20 cricket, has taken 61 wickets in 55 matches so far.

A Vitality Blast winner with the Spitfires, the 32-year-old’s current Kent-best T20 figures of 4-17 came at Finals Day in 2021, taking 4-17 against Sussex Sharks on the way to Kent lifting the trophy at Edgbaston.

He missed the 2024 Vitality Blast due to a back injury sustained whilst on international duty in May and underwent surgery with a specialist team in New Zealand in July.

On extending his Kent stay, Klaassen said: “I’m really pleased to commit to Kent for at least another year at what feels like a fresh start for us and the start of something exciting.

“A big contributing factor to me committing to Kent was having Adam Hollioake come in as Head Coach, and I’m looking forward to working with him and the rest of the squad to hopefully put some big performances in in 2025 after a disappointing 2024 due to injury.”

Kent’s Director of Cricket, Simon Cook, said: “Fred is an outstanding T20 bowler on his day and with his left-arm angles, he gives us a point of difference in matchups against opposition batters.

“He’s a popular member of the dressing room and he has worked hard to rehabilitate from his surgery in the Summer – we hope that he will be back to his best in 2025.”
