Folkestone Invicta officially confirmed today that defender Salvyn Kisitu has been released by the club and has signed for Division One South Sittingbourne.
The 21-year-old former Leatherhead and VCD Athletic player made his debut in the No.2 shirt for the Bourne in the Bourne’ in their home clash with Chipstead at Woodstock Park this afternoon.
Kisitu i was signed by Invicta after impressing in pre-season, scoring their last consolation goal in a 5-1 home defeat against National League neighbours Dover Athletic.
But after much early promise Salvyn has struggled for consistency at Bostik Premier level and rarely looked comfortable when asked to play as a wingback when that system was introduced with some success by manager Neil Cugley.
The Ugandan-born player made five starting appearances for Folkestone and was also on the bench five times.
But he has not featured since going on a substitute for the final nine minutes of their 3-1 FA Cup win over Tooting & Mitcham at The Fullicks Stadium on September 16th.
Boss Cugley has often expressed concern over the consistency of several of the younger members of his squad but was surprised and disappointed when the player himself asked for time away from the club to try to shake off a hamstring problem.
Kisitu’s new club Sittingbourne went into this afternoon second in the table, three points behind leaders Lewes with a game in hand.
