Just weeks after winning the supporters-voted for Rider of the 2018 season, Wickford-based Alex Spooner has become the latest rider confirmed as a Kent King for next year.
The 18-year-old had an excellent debut season as a full time Kings man (after a brief spell with the Central Park Stadium-based side in the opening weeks of the 2017 campaign) upping his average by 66%.
The teenager was also the league title winning talisman for Kent’s junior side, the Kestrels – achieving an extraordinary 12.00 point maximum, unbeaten home and away the entire successful Southern Development League campaign.
Speaking while on a welcome break in Dublin this weekend, the very popular Spooner couldn’t conceal his delight at staying in the Kings’ camp for another season,
“I’m so happy to be back at Kent for next year! I cannot wait to get the season underway now with what is looking like a very strong team!
“It was an easy decision for me having the best support from the best fans in the sport! And in general being such a well and professionally managed team.
“I’m so happy Len (Silver) and Chris (Hunt) have chosen me to be in the team for next year and I will not be letting them down, as I’m coming into 2019 more determined than ever and even more having the riders’ trophy to defend!”
