It’s a quick fire return to hostilities between the two ‘county-named’ sides in Speedway’s National League tonight as Kent host the Devon Demons.
It is just 24 hours after the two sides went into combat in the National League Pairs Championship.
The CTA Fire Kings emerged triumphant in that particular match-up, as has been the case when the sides met home and away earlier this campaign in the Knock-out Cup – so the Plymouth-based Demons will have revenge on their minds when they meet at Central Park, 6.30pm tapes up.
The good news for Kings’ followers is the side are at full strength with both skipper Simon Lambert and Ben Morley donning the Invicta race jackets in front of home fans and no doubt showing off their bronze-position trophies from their efforts up at Mildenhall on Sunday.
For Morley it’s a particularly special occasion as it’s the first home meeting since the averages were reassessed placing him as a National League number one for the first time in his career.
For the visitors, they utilise the Rider Replacement facility for the currently retired Ben Reade, but are able to bring with them a significantly more familiar outfit and stronger as a result than that KOC match last month. Skipper Matt Bates will present a major scoring threat after his paid 12 points last Friday saw the Demons win their first home match of the season.
Moving up to number four in the Devon septet is James Shanes who proved last time around that 13 certainly isn’t an unlucky number if you’re a Demon, as that was his hugely impressive return in a man of the meeting performance – the Grasstracker who has a second place in the hugely prestigious Battle of Britain championship on his racing CV is a real one to watch especially as Central Park seems to be a circuit he thrives on.
Unfortunately number one Tim Webster has suffered injury this weekend and coming in as a guest is Brendan Johnson.
The action gets underway at Central Park at 6.30pm.
