Key undergoes wrist surgery

Kent captain Robert Key has undergone surgery to correct the wrist injury that plagued him last season.

The opening batsman missed the last month of the season with the injury that he had been carrying for quite a lot of the summer.

The 32 year old last played in the Championship game with Middlesex at Canterbury that ended on August 20th having hit 110 not out in the previous Championship game with Surrey.

It was in the Championship game with Surrey at The Oval in July that the problem became an issue for Key, despite hitting a season’s best 162 in Kent’s second innings.

Monday’s operation is hoped to fix the problem that Key battled on with for a further month and it is hoped that by having the operation now he will be ready to play when the new season starts in April.
