Kermorgant signs for Reading

Charlton’s hopes of luring Yann Kermorgant back to The Valley are over, he signed for Reading on Tuesday evening.

Yann Kermorgant

Bournemouth agreed a fee, rumoured to be around £500,000, with the Royals.

Now 34-years-old, Kermorgant left The Valley two years ago for a fee believed to be in the region of £400,000.

The striker made 45 starts for the Cherries in all competitions, plus another 24 appearances from the bench, scoring 27 goals, and did a wonderful job for Eddie Howe.

Ironically, the Addicks have selected the fixture with Reading on 27 February as their next Football For A Fiver promotion. These games normally go close to selling out, and Kermorgant will get the warmest of welcomes from the Valley faithful.

If Kermorgant was a Charlton cult hero, George Tucadean was anything but. The Romanian went on a two year loan to Steau Bucharest in the summer of 2014, but the move turned sour earlier this
season.

Tucadean left Steau and has now joined another Romanian top-flight side – ASA Targu Mures – for the rest of the season.

Saturday’s home game against Blackburn Rovers will be dedicated to the Street Violence Ruins Lives campaign.

The Addicks will travel to either Southampton or Huddersfield in the round of the last sixteen of the Under-21 Premier League Cup.

The Under-18s will play their FA Youth Cup match with Coventry at Corby Town’s Steel Park Stadium on Monday.

The game will kick-off at 7.00pm and admission prices are £4 for adults and £2 for concessions. The winners will be at home to Arsenal in the next round.

Jose Riga’s first official press conference will be held at 4.00pm on Thursday.
