Matt Ford finished in joint 15th place in his latest appearance on the European Challenge tour at the weekend.

Competing in the Viking Challenge at Miklagard GC in Norway, the Bearsted professional recorded a three-under-par total of 213 in the tournament which had to be reduced to 54 holes because of bad weather. It was won by Clemente Sordet of France with a 13-under-par total of 203.

Back on home soil, the PGA Kent Open Championship is taking place at Prince’s GC on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

Over 100 professionals will be competing for a prize fund of £12,500 in the 36-hole stroke-play event on the Sandwich Bay links.

Meanwhile on the amateur front Upchurch River Valley GC took another step towards winning the Whitbread League title with a 4-1 success over Pedham Place GC on Sunday.

And in the Invicta League Cranbrook beat Prince’s by a similar scoreline in their Division Two contest on Saturday.

Finally, belated congratulations to the Kent team who won the South East Group Junior Foursomes at Ham Manor GC on Thursday. The Kent team was: Conor Bell, Spencer Copley, Jack Hooper, Jacob Kelso, Ben Quinney and James Wright.
