It’s a big week as two of our clubs look to continue their March to the Arch and progress in the Emirates FA Cup after First Round Replays.
Tuesday sees new Ebbsfleet United boss Garry Hill take his charges to Whaddon Road as they face Cheltenham Town to try and progress to Accrington Stanley. Hill would have been pleased with Saturday’s draw at Boreham Wood but will also know that that performance will have to be bettered if the Fleet are to progress.
Closer to home, Tonbridge Angels travel to the Sussex coast to face Worthing in the Second Round of the Velocity Trophy, whilst at Cheriton Road, Folkestone Invicta and Hayes & Yeading try to play their tie that horrendous traffic on the M20 cancelled last Tuesday.
There’s three SCEFL Matches – Fisher will look to go top with victory over Canterbury City; Corinthian will look to go third by at the same time ending Bearsted’s impressive home run, and Chatham Town too could go third with a win at AFC Croydon Athletic.
On Wednesday, Steve Lovell takes the Gills to the North East to try to get past Hartlepool’s “bus” and claim a place in the Second round of the FA Cup and a trip to either Sutton United or Slough Town who replay at Slough on Tuesday – what a massive fillip it would be for Gillingham to progress.
In the BOSTIK South East, Herne Bay face an overnight stay as they head for Footes Lane Guernsey for a real six pointer at the wrong end of the table as its 18th v 19th…
It’s FA Youth Cup night too with the carrot for Cray Wanderers youngsters against Portsmouth is a trip in the next round to face Liverpool at Anfield – kick off at Hayes Lane is at 7:30pm.
Back to SCEFL for the remaining midweek games – Cray Valley (PM) will look to carry on their stunning form when Beckenham Town come calling; it’s 17th vs 18th at Star Meadow where Holland & Blair fresh from their own 4-1 hammering of Punjab United on Saturday, welcome Tunbridge Wells to the Medway Towns whilst Croydon will go looking for their second win of the season and their first at home when they host Erith Town after Saturday’s 4-1 drubbing of Glebe.
