Kent’s Non League Midweek Preview
Kent’s Non League Midweek Preview

You’re going to have to look long and hard for your midweek football this week as there are only a handful of games to choose from.

There are four games on tonight (Tuesday) with the undoubted highlight being at Priestfield where Gillingham look to make it three wins in a row against a Blackpool side who were beaten 0-3 at home by Bristol Rovers at the weekend, whilst Tom Eaves’ 10th and 11th goals of the season followed Brandon Hanlan’s opener in the Gills 3-0 win over Blackpool’s Fylde neighbours from Fleetwood Town.

Elsewhere, Neil Smith and his Bromley side will surely have one eye on their Emirates FA Cup First Round tie with Peterborough United as they host Faversham Town in the Kent Senior Cup.

Caretaker boss Clive Walker will surely look to take all his best side to cause a shock at Hayes Lane, and with it a place in the last eight.

Down at the Belmont Ground, there’s a Second Round derby in the Velocity Trophy with Greenwich Borough the visitors.

Borough make the trip down the M2 corridor in dreadful form – losing their last five League games (including a 0-2 reverse at the Belmont a month ago).

But Scott Parker will be well aware that his Whitstable side will have to be on their metal if they’re to progress.

There’s two games in the SCEFL League Cup as FC Elmstead welcome Erith and Belvedere and K Sports are at home to Canterbury City.

Wednesday night sees Steve McKimm take his Tonbridge Angels to face Kingstonian at the K’s new home – Corinthian Casuals – looking to protect their two point lead at the top of the BOSTIK Premier Division.

It’s a big week for the Angels as on Saturday they travel again to face second placed Dorking Wanderers.

The other game is in SCEFL where Kevin Watson’s free scoring Vase heroes Cray Valley (PM) return to League action with a trip to Rusthall.

And after all that, Saturday sees not only the next round of the Buildbase FA Trophy but it’s also First Round weekend in the Emirates FA Cup with five of our teams in action…
