Kent’s kids encouraged to get into cricket

Kent kids and their parents are being encouraged to get out and try cricket for the first time in an enjoyable way.

Named Cricket Cubs, the scheme is beginning its’ second year with kids as young as two encouraged to come along and be part of cricket for the very first time.

Teaching the basics of cricket to both boys and girls, Cricket Cubs is all about kids having fun whilst learning new skills.

Having started back in February last year, Cricket Cubs has already been hugely successful and now it is planning on moving to a second site in the county after launching at the 44Two Sports Club in Gillingham.

Combining soft play and kwik cricket skills, Cricket Cubs uses skills to suit the younger player with easy to remember techniques and reaches out to children of all abilities and to both sexes.

With such high demand at the initial course in Gillingham, Cricket Cubs are now venturing out further into the county with a partnership with Old Elthamiams Cricket Cubs near Sidcup.

Old Elthamians will be running indoor development sessions starting in the New Year and continuing all the way through to the start of the season; when the young cubs of OECC will start practising outside on the cricket clubs main pitch.

Old Elthamians CC are Clubmark Accredited cricket club, with attained Focus Club Status and provide an environment within which players of all ages and abilities can thrive and develop. OECC are also the creators of the now recognised ECB Young Cricket Leaders Award.

By combining with Cricket Cubs and Friends they can now provide coaching and cricket play to all age groups by using their expertise in the 2 to 5 year old age groups.

Ran for half to hour to 50 minute sessions and catering for children up to the age of seven, Cricket Cubs is now taking bookings for the 2013 courses, so to find out more visit their website – www.cricketcubsandfriends.co.uk
