Come along and support Kent’s successful Women’s Cricket Team this coming Bank Holiday weekend as they play two games at Canterbury.
Kent Women are current County and Twenty20 Champions and kick off their 2012 campaign with two 50-over matches at the St Lawrence Ground this Bank Holiday weekend.
Kent Women face Yorkshire on Sunday 6th May and Middlesex on Monday 7th May.
Led by Charlotte Edwards, Kent Women’s team includes five of the current England Women’s squad, who recently returned from a successful one-day series in New Zealand – Lydia Greenway, Tammy Beaumont, Laura Marsh and Susie Rowe and of course, Charlotte herself.
Clair Gould, Kent Cricket Board’s Director of Operations is keen to see as many people as possible packed into Canterbury for this rare opportunity to see Kent Women playing within the city:
“It’s a fantastic chance to see some of England’s finest women cricketers playing at the St Lawrence Ground. We’re hoping for good weather and with admission free, it should be a great occasion for all the family.”
“The standard of cricket is exceptional and with the men’s side not at home this weekend, it’s a chance for the people of Kent to see some cricket in the county.”
Kent Women had a spectacular 2011 season – they were the County Championship campaign and won the national T20 competition.
Both matches are scheduled to start at 11am and entry is free. The Chiesman Pavilion and bar will be open for both matches, along with the new Sainsbury’s convenience store which is open on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.
A Street20 Competition will take place during the interval of the Kent Women v Yorkshire match on Sunday 6th May.
