Captain Rob Key will sit out the County Championship game against Glamorgan beginning at Canterbury on Sunday.

Vice-captain Sam Northeast will skipper the side in the absence of Key who has opted to take some time away from playing to get his form back.

Speaking exclusively to Kent Sports News earlier in the week, Key intimated he was going to have a rest and Head coach Jimmy Adams has confirmed his skipper will have a break to rediscover his form:

“Rob has elected to spend some time away from first-team cricket in order to focus on his batting.”

“The team showed more consistency and character in the second half of the last game and we will be aiming to maintain and improve on this for this home fixture against Glamorgan.”

Kent have recalled Fabian Cowdrey, Calum Haggett and James Tredwell for the game with Key, Mitchell Claydon and Adam Riley the three players from the draw against Leicestershire to make way.

Matt Hunn and Calum Haggett seem set to battle it out for a place in the starting eleven with Kent having named a 12 man squad for the game with neither side yet to register a win this season.

Play is scheduled to start at 11am with KSN providing live updates on our dedicated Twitter feed – @ksncricket
