In the wake of recent events at Yorkshire, Kent Cricket have invited any player, coach, official or employee– at any representative level – to contact them if they feel they have ever suffered racism or prejudice on any occasion during their time at Kent Cricket.

With high profile cases of racism surfacing within cricket, Kent have issued the following statement to urge anyone to come forward that feels they have been affected in their time at the county.

It reads:

Today, the Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket (ICEC) has released a Call for Evidence in order to hear people’s experiences of discrimination and inclusion.

This is a public call to action for anyone who wishes to go to the ICEC website and complete an online survey. The Commission will produce a report in Summer 2022 which will recommend measures to tackle the problems, improve equity and identify good practice in relation to race, gender and class within cricket.

It is important to note that the ICEC is completely independent of the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Kent Cricket, but the Club is fully supportive of its remit.

More specifically, in the light of the on-going conversations about racism in cricket, Kent Cricket is restating our commitment to stamp out discrimination and racism in all forms. We stand together with the ECB, Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) and other stakeholders in our commitment to ensuring cricket offers an inclusive and welcoming environment and is accessible to all, at every level of the game.

There is no place in our game for discrimination, prejudice and racism in all its forms and the Club has an ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion; we fully acknowledge that as the governing body for cricket at all levels across Kent, we must continue to listen, learn and take further action to make sure that cricket really is a sport for everyone.
