‘One Game’ is an England and Wales Cricket Board campaign to ensure that the game of cricket is open to as many people as possible, regardless of age, race, ability or gender. Embracing the One Game campaign, the One Game, One Day Conference aims to provide entertainment and information for all those who are involved in the game at every level.
The day brings together a variety of speakers, a ‘Question Time’ with high profile names from the game, along with informative and practical presentations from the professional and recreational sides of the game of cricket.
Guests will include, Jimmy Adams; former West Indies Cricket Team Captain and now Kent Cricket Head Coach, James Tredwell; England International and Kent Cricket Captain, Charlotte Edwards; England and Kent Women’s Captain and Mike Gatting; former England International and current Managing Director of Cricket Partnerships at the ECB.
They will be joined by Dave Leighton from the ECB, Martin Saggers; former Kent player and now 1st Class Umpire, Jamie Clifford; Chief Executive of Kent Cricket and Chairman of the Kent Cricket Board, Simon Willis; Kent Academy Director, and Rob Comber from the England and Kent Visual Impaired Cricket Team. Guests will present on the day, and will also be available to speak to throughout the day.
The day is packed with practical sessions and presentations which are intended to provide something for all those involved in the game, including players, coaches, volunteers, young leaders, spectators, umpires, scorers, groundsman, club treasurers, bar stewards, schools and teachers.
There will be a ‘Market Place’ on the day, featuring trade stands – providing money saving and fund-raising advice, and water management services from Kent Cricket Board partner, ‘Southern Water’. There will also be other stands, to include equipment from Hell4Leather and information from the Kent Supporters Club.
A recent new sponsor of Kent Cricket Board will also be supporting the event. Kent Cricket Board has recently teamed up with Stuart Canvas Products. The sponsorship has come at a perfect time for the Board as it aims to support club development through events such as the One Game, One Day. Stuart Canvas Products will be available on the day to provide advice to clubs as lead suppliers of covers, nets, site screens, score boards, flat sheets and other vital cricket equipment. The company promises to price-match as part of their pledge to support cricket in Kent.
Jamie Clifford, Kent Cricket Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Kent Cricket Board, commented; “The One Game, One Day idea is brand new and a celebration of all that is good about cricket in our county. I am looking forward to what promises to be a great day for anyone with a passion for the game.”
