Kent to go Gung Ho again
Kent to go Gung Ho again

The biggest inflatable obstacle course on Earth is set to return to Kent for the THIRD time after thousands of people went Gung-Ho! on Saturday.

Around 3000 people of all ages, shapes and sizes took on ten tricky obstacles at Gung-Ho! Seriously Fun 5k at Brands Hatch, including Europe’s tallest inflatable slide, standing a whopping 72ft tall and measuring 200ft in length.

On their way around the course, which needed as much air to inflate as 100 MILLION footballs, runners also conquered a giant climbing wall, labyrinth, ball pit and gauntlet.

The event is the brainchild of Cbeebies presenter Alex Winters, who was thrilled by Gung-Ho!’s second visit to the region.

Alex said: “Our first event in Kent in 2016 was one of the best events we had ever put on, and we knew then that we had a place that was truly Gung-Ho!.

“That’s why we have brought the event back for the second year in succession on Saturday and why we will try to return again in 2018.”

“The people of Kent have been so up for Gung-Ho! and this year they went crazier than ever for it. It was just fantastic to see so many people smiling and laughing as they took on our inflatables – and won.

“People were helping each other out all around the course, and there were so many people overcoming their own personal challenges, running in memory of loved ones or for charity. That is what it is all about for me.

“It was definitely one of our best events yet, and I hope we can return in 2018 to see it all again. Thanks for having us, Kent. You really are Gung-Ho!”

Many runners took part just for fun, while others raised money for charities and other good causes. These included Gung-Ho!’s local partner, the Kent Sports Trust Foundation, who had a team of eighty out on the grueling course.

After the run in the sun, social media was lit up with messages from participants eager to share their experiences of the world’s biggest inflatable obstacle course.

Rebekah Taylor tweeted: “Amazing race today. Great dun with the girls!”

Meanwhile, on the Gung-Ho! Facebook event page, Ronel Du Toit posted: “Loved every minute. Thanks to the organisers for all that fun.”

Alex came up with the idea for Gung-Ho! in 2014 while sat in front of the TV watching Ninja Warrior with his three children.

That idea spawned a new craze with thousands taking part in Gung-Ho!’s first three events in 2015, before a hugely successful country-wide tour last year.

Kent was the eighth in a series of 12 Gung-Ho! events planned across the country in 2017, with up to 60,000 people expected to take part in total.

Tickets and more information about coming events are available at www.begung-ho.co.uk. Check out Gung-Ho! updates by searching ‘Gung-Ho! on Facebook and on Twitter, at @begungho.
