Kent Spitfires v Middlesex Panthers Preview

Kent welcome the Middlesex Panthers to Canterbury on Tuesday night, looking to get their T20 campaign back on track after losing to Hampshire on Sunday.

The Panthers come to the St Lawrence Ground bottom of the South Group, but are able to name a strong, 13-man squad for the match, including England internationals Eoin Morgan and Steven Finn, as well as former Kent batsman Joe Denly, making his first return to the SLG since his post-season move to Middlesex.

The game is set to be broadcast on SkySports, and with the weather forecast predicting no rain on Tuesday evening, a full game is expected to be possible.

Despite defeat to the Hampshire Royals at Canterbury on Sunday, Kent are expected to remain unchanged for the game, keeping the same XI which has turned out in all four of their completed T20 games this season, bringing two victories and two defeats thus far.

This would mean the continued opening partnership of experienced captain Rob Key and youngster Sam Billings.

Billings continues to look to make a name for himself in one-day and T20 cricket, and, speaking to KSN after the defeat to the Hampshire Royals, praised the impact that batting with his skipper has had for him.

“He’s been brilliant, just helping me through, a very calm and collected kind of bloke at the crease”, he said of Key.

“It’s good because he keeps talking to me throughout and we just keep assessing things. It’s good to have a balance, but we’ve got plenty of things to work on.”

The game is scheduled to start at 7.10pm tomorrow (Tuesday 26th) evening at the St Lawrence Ground. In the afternoon, England Women will be taking on the Indian Women’s team in an International T20 game, starting at 3.10pm (gates open 1pm), and a ticket to either match will give you entry to both fixtures, so come along for an exciting day of Twenty20 action!
