Kent set to miss out on T20 signing
Kent set to miss out on T20 signing

Jimmy Adams admits there is every chance Kent could go into this year’s Twenty 20 Cup without a second overseas signing.

With most clubs looking to fill their side with the two alloted overseas stars, Kent could well go into this year’s tournament with just the one due to finances and those that are available.

However, Adams told KSN that it’s not the worst thing in the world if he doesn’t manage to bring in a second overseas signing alongside Brendan Nash:

“We’re struggling to bring someone in and it’s turning out to be a tricky one. There are some financial constraints, but it also comes down to who is available.”

“The decision is really out of my hands, but as long as on any given day we have fifteen players in which to choose from, we can prepare and go out to give it our best shot.”

“Whatever the situation is, we make the best of it and we’ve been trying to do that from day one.”

“At the end of the day, we’ll keep looking though as things change.”

“Although I’m happy with the squad that we have and I’ll back them to do a job on the day against any opposition.”

One player Adams will welcome back into the fold for the T20’s is Azhar Mahmood, with the all-rounder currently playing in the Indian Premier League:

“Azhar is supremely talented and like a fine wine, he has got better with age. It will be good to have him back in the ranks as he’ll add that bit more competition for places and brings a wealth of experience.”

“I’ve not seen an awful lot of Azhar since I’ve been here with him being away, but make no mistake, what I have seen of him in the past is enough for me.”

Kent Spitfires begin their Twenty 20 campaign against the Surrey Lions on 17th June at Beckenham with the game scheduled to start at 3pm.
